As a home business owner who uses a Facebook fanpgage to generate leads I often hear a big debate over the best ways to use a Facebook Fanpage!

Some people say a Facebook fangage is not a good thing to use to build a home business! Other people say it’s the only thing to use when building a home business!

In January of 2014, I had a little of 500 fans on my fanpage and as of March 1^st I have a little under 5000 fans! My focus has never been to just get fans. My plan was to target people specifically in my niche and provide them with nothing but pure content and value.

Now because of that, I have generated close to $200,000 In revenue from Facebook alone! So let’s say I got 4500 fans over the last 2 months. That would mean each fan was worth $44 dollars to me.

Now to be fair I do a lot of Facebook advertising and have spent roughly $9,000 on Facebook ads over the last 2 months but that is pennies when you take into account my total revenue!

I was not focussed on driving traffic to an offer, I was focused on driving people to content that offers value. I think this mistake is what causes people to think a fanpage is not good for your home business!

So what I wanted to do was share with you exactly what I do with my fangage. I focus on a point system that I try to beat each and every week! It consist of people liking, sharing and commenting on my facebook content!

This Is How It Works?

You can have 1 million page likes or 100, but what you want to pay close attention to are the people ‘talking about your page.’ You will see that number next to your total number of fans. This number tells you how many people actually engaging in your post. This number goes up and down so do not freak out if yours is low. Just make sure you keep an eye on it so when it get’s low you do things to pick it back up! It’s pretty simple – the more user engagement generated by your posts, the more likely Facebook will feature your posts in your fans newsfeed. Facebook has it’s own algorithm which measures who’s content they should show more Edgerank.

How is the “Talking About This” number calculated?

I decided to research edge-rank and I found this little explanation online which could help you!

‘Talking About This’ number is generated from the amount of unique users who have created a “story” about a fanpage within a 7 day window. ”Stories” are actions that are displayed in the newsfeed of users who are interacting with your fanpage. Users create stories when they:

like a page
post on the page wall
like a post
comment on a post
share a post
answer a question
RSVP to a page’s event
mention the page in a post
tag the page in a photo
check in at a place
share a check-in deal
like a check-in deal
write a recommendation

Think about it this way: a “like” is worth 1 point, a “comment” is worth 5 points and a “share” is worth 10 points. The more interaction you are getting on your fanpage, the more chance you have to show up in your fans’ newsfeed. Always make sure to post ‘share-worthy’ content that will entice users to interact. Paying for promoted posts will also boost this number and get new fans and more interaction.

At the end of the day if you focus on Value and if you are consistent in your marketing everyday you will build a powerful business using your fanpage!

As an entrepreneur who has failed more times than I have had success I know the pain you feel when you try something and it does not work.

I also know the excitement you feel when something does work! The truth is most things that have worked have come after my moments of failure! If I could go back and tell myself anything when I first got started as an entrepreneur, I would tell myself that it’s O.K to fail and to take more risks.

I would also tell myself that it’s O.K to be rich! A lot of young entrepreneurs are afraid of success and actually self sabotage their business!

So the question I searched for today was why do people quit and self sabotage their own business. Below are the top 3 reasons to why people quit and self sabotage their business, so make sure you don’t do these things.

1. Get Rich Quick Mentality: Some people quit and self sabotage because they are constantly comparing themselves to other people. So if they perceive other people making more money or getting better results than them they quit! This happens because they feel they should be making more money faster than they are. The get rich quick mentality is a killer when it comes to growing a home business.

2. You Have Nothing To Compare It To: Some people do not know what is good or bad. They could be doing very well in their business but because they think they should be doing better they quit! Always remember you are where you are supposed to be. The best thing you can do in this situation is seek out a person who is where you want to be and ask them what are the realistic expectations of their business!

3. Fear Of Leaving People Behind: The hardest thing for a lot of people to deal with when they start getting results in their business is the fear of losing friends. You think to yourself, what will my friends think when I start my business. What will my friends think when I start making money? What will my friends think when I get new friends that are richer than them? If they are real friends they will be proud of you and encourage you. If not, they were not your friends in the 1st place!

If you are reading this and you feel like quitting, always remember that what does not kill you only makes you stronger! Well everyday if you work a 9 to 5 that’s what happens to you!

4. The People You Meet As An Entrepreneur Will Inspire You: I can’t begin to tell you how many cool and exciting people I have met because I am a home business professional and entrepreneur. Wealthy people own businesses and connect with other wealthy people. Go ask your friend at work how many millionaires he talks to on a daily basis. Then go ask that same question to a business owner! It won’t even be close!

5. FREEDOM: Being and entrepreneur gives you the FREEDOM to do what you want to do when you want to do it! You will have the ability to earn more money, which means you will position yourself to create a legacy for yourself and your family! When you are laying in your death bed and you are thinking about your work career, you say 1 of 2 things… you will say I lived a life of freedom or I lived a life of least resistance?

3. Create a system of duplication that people on your team can easily follow! The best way to do this is to create videos that everyone on your team could use that is generic but focuses on 4 major points. Video 1 would explain who you are and what you are about to explain in video 2. Video 2 would explain your business opportunity and what you are going to cover in video 3. Video 3 would break down how you earn in your opportunity and what you will cover in video 4. Video 4 should cover all of the bonuses they get when they get started with you and instruct them on how they can get started or contact you!

If you do these 4 videos and create them in a way where your entire team can them for themselves your business will explode!

A few years ago someone told me that humans have thousands of emotions but only focus on a select few. People focus on being happy or being sad, feeling confident or feeling frustrated.

Obviously there are others that we may notice but when asked to name all of the other emotions most people can’t name or identify them because we don’t focus on them.

This happens because we are programmed to react and deal with the emotions that we think we experience the most.

In Tim Farris’s book the 4 hour work week he talks about learning how to become and expert in things very fast. The thing that he often talks about is how people love the do things that give them the least resistance! In fact most people are programmed to quit them moment they feel resistance because they feel that is the emotion that tells you that you are doing something wrong.

So what he says to do is to take time figuring out what those things are that create resistance and do them for 5 days and you can literally condition yourself to get rid of the negative emotions you equate to certain activities.

For example, I believe the feeling of being frustrated or being overwhelmed is a good thing. I have programmed myself to seek out things that create that because I know that is the moment that other people quit. It’s simple if other people quit when doing something and I continue than I will succeed.

Then my goal changes to this, If I can find a solution that makes a person feel less resistance during that situation, it allows you to be a solutions creator, which is the best way to provide value to anyone!

So how do you change a negative reaction to a positive.

1. Identify what is causing you to feel a certain way: Is it fear, is the emotion real, are you just being lazy, do you simply need direction on what to do?

2. Create patterns that lead you to that emotion just so you can practice handling it: If you know you are afraid of failing placing ads or speaking to others, create situations where you have to do it more or better yet have someone else do it for you! The outcome would most likely be the same!

3. Be willing to do the opposite of the norm: One of the reasons people feel certain ways when things happen is because other people react to certain emotions the same way. When you see other people doing something most people tend to follow.

If you follow everyone who is doing thing wrong you will get the same wrong results! So be willing to find different ways to do things that make everyone else a little nervous and focus on making that the thing that makes people nervous the norm!
